I have been working in the field of pediatric and adult rehabilitation since 1985. A keen interest in neurological and emotional well-being led me to a psychology degree from New York University. I received a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy shortly thereafter. My experience with clients, their families and continued education have resulted in unique perspective on treatment and assisting others in developing a high-quality of well being. My personal experiences with physical injuries, cognitive challenges and compulsive behaviors have deepened my understanding in just how effective a well-integrated mind and body approach to wellness and life satisfaction can be. In 2008 I received a certification as a Yoga Instructor from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I have continued my studies in various body-based, mindfulness, and meditative disciplines.I have studied with Bo Forbes (yoga for emotional well being) Matthew Sanford (yoga as it applies to significant neuro motor challenges) , Amar Jyoti, (structural yoga emphasis on alignment for well being) and Stephen Batchelor, (understanding suffering, its roots, dissolving them and acting in the world) In 2014, I completed a 9 month foundations course aimed at integrating care giving with spiritual care and contemplative practices at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care (with Koshin Palley Ellison and Robert Chodo Campbell). I have also studied QiGong and Thai Chi (Chen Style) with Matthew Branham. In 2008, John Haspel and I developed The Spiritual Solution 12 Steps Workshops. We have presented more than 35 workshops to over 2,000 people in recovery from addictive and compulsive behaviors. In 2011, John and I co-founded the Cross River Meditation and Dhamma Center in Frenchtown New Jersey. I am committed to my own personal development and healing. Relying on experience, insights and current research in neuroplasticity, I am able to listen deeply to my clients, provide appropriate assessments, develop individualized practices that leads to understanding, self-compassion and wellness.
