therapeutic
Therapeutic neuromuscular massage, also known as trigger point therapy or myofascial release, is a type of massage that targets specific areas of muscle tension or knots. This type of massage involves applying pressure to these areas with the fingers, thumbs, elbows or massage tools to help release the tension and improve circulation. Targeted muscle massage can be intense and may cause some discomfort, but it can be very effective in reducing chronic pain, improving flexibility, and increasing range of motion. (30 min for $50)
relaxation
A relaxation massage is similar to a Swedish massage but gentler. This is a great option for individuals who prefer a lighter touch during their massage session. This type of massage is designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. (60 min for $80)
swedish
Swedish massage is a popular type of massage that uses long flowing strokes, kneading, friction, and circular movements on the topmost layers of muscles. The therapist uses different levels of pressure to help reduce tension, increase circulation, and promote relaxation. Swedish massage also involves joint movement, stretching, and sometimes tapping or vibration, percussion, kneading and rolling to help release tension and improve flexibility. (60 min for $95 /90 min for $125)
*It is important to communicate your preferences and any concern with your therapist before and during the session i.e. pressure, tenderness, any pain. This will ensure that the massage is tailored to your specific needs and preferences, and that you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire experience.
Relaxation Massage
What Is It:
Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax. The massage therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. In a relaxation massage, there is less emphasis on working out chronic underlying muscle tension — the adhesions or “knots” and muscle restrictions in the muscle tissue. That’s because deep tissue work can be uncomfortable, and during a relaxation massage, you just want to drift away and feel good.
In a relaxation massage, the therapist won’t push your limits in order to get the muscle to release. You might even fall asleep! It’s a good choice for someone who is getting a massage for the first time or someone who just wants to bring their stress level down.
Relaxation massage is also good for someone who gets a massage as a special treat once a year. It’s not realistic to expect that you can get rid of all your knots in one massage, but to drift into a deeply relaxed state in sixty minutes…massage can do that!
Health Benefits:
There are substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage. Gentle massage stimulates sensory nerve endings in the skin, which transmit messages through the nervous system and cause the brain to release endorphins. These are the body’s natural painkillers—feel-good chemicals that create a sense of well-being.
Massage further aids relaxation by stimulating the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the “rest and digest system.” Blood pressure decreases, heart rate slows, and digestive activity increases. Relaxation massage also increases blood circulation and stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, which carries away waste products.
Therapeutic Massage
What Is It:
Therapeutic Massage Therapy is defined as the mobilization of soft tissue (such as muscle, fascia, and body fluids) to restore normal systemic and bio-mechanical/ functional use. It can be used to assist in the treatment of most musculoskeletal and associated problems, and regular Therapeutic Massage Therapy results in improved circulatory, lymphatic, and neurological functioning.
Therapeutic Massage can be stimulating or soothing depending on the technique, depth, and speed. Carried out by a Registered Therapist, Therapeutic Massage Therapy is both safe and effective and helps to create balance and harmony from within.
Today, given the high levels of stress under which many people live, Therapeutic Massage Therapy is not only a highly beneficial therapy but also one of the healthiest options for improving one’s quality of life.
Health Benefits:
The benefits of Therapeutic Massage Therapy are profound and are becoming even more attractive as the world around us becomes more stressed, aggressive, and anxiety-ridden.
Therapeutic Massage Therapy could be a relevant choice of health care in the following areas:
Health maintenance and/or health promotion: Promotes general tissue health and encourages lifestyle and general health awareness
Stress management: Helps relieve associated muscular tension and encourages general relaxation
Post-operative care: Helps reduce recovery period and speeds up the elimination of anesthetic, as well as reducing pain and stiffness associated with bed-rest
Emotional and/or psychological disorders: Releases endorphins that help to uplift and reduce depression
Terminal illness: Helps reduce pain and discomfort associated with long term bed-rest as well as providing support and reducing the effects of emotional stress for the patient as well as the family
Chronic pain: Helps break the “pain spasm” cycle whilst reducing associated muscle tightness
Pre and post-event sports participation: Improves performance and recovery and reduces the likelihood of serious injury
